A fun way to learn!
Simple diffusion is a kinetic movement of molecules or ions through an opening in the membrane or through intermolecular spaces without any interaction with transporter proteins.
Simple diffusion can occur through two pathways:
1) through the interstices in the lipid bilayer where the substance is soluble in lipids.
2) or via water channels present in the entire length of the membrane.
